Music History - Baroque

The Baroque period stretched between the 17th and 18th centuries, started with the music of Monteverdi and lasted until the deaths of Bach and Handel in 1750. Harmonic complexity grew alongside emphasis on contrast in music composition. Examples were fast and slow, loud and soft, high and low, etc. Polyphony was abandoned as old fashioned.
